Springtime Events in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia

There’s nothing quite as beautiful as the Shenandoah Valley during springtime. Blooming redbud and dogwood trees line our windy, country roads and dot the scenic mountain landscapes.

Towns and cities throughout the Shenandoah Valley gather artisans, musicians, wineries, and breweries to celebrate the season. Join us this April and May for one or more of our festivals in this special place we call home.

Harrisonburg, Virginia: Rocktown Beer & Music Festival

The Rocktown Beer & Music Festival is a popular Harrisonburg, Virginia event that attracts approximately 3,000 people each year. The Turner Pavilion is a great downtown location for enjoying craft beer and live music. The pavilion houses the beer vendors while a nearby grassy area is great for relaxing and enjoying the music.

“Uncork the Bloom” in historic downtown Winchester with live entertainment, great food, and Virginia wines. Three distinctive wine gardens await your discovery among the century old brick buildings of Virginia’s first pedestrian mall. The event begins Friday evening and continues until 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Dayton Redbud Spring Arts and Crafts Festival features wares from local merchants, handmade arts and crafts from vendors, local food and drinks, local music, historical tours, a duck race, and an antique car show.

Celebrate Historic Garden Week in Virginia with the “Homes and History Tour” presented by the Blue Ridge Garden Club. The four locations featured on the tour include Natural Bridge State Park, Herring Hall, circa 1812, Vineyard Hill, circa 1774, and the Inn at Forest Oaks, circa 1806.

Millwood, Virginia: Art at the Mill

The quaint community of Millwood, Va. celebrates spring with an art show and sale at the historic Burwell-Morgan Mill. The show features the work of approximately  300 artists display more than 1,000 pieces of art of all descriptions and media.

This event is a major fund raiser for the Clarke County Historical Association who owns and operates the mill. Built 1785, the Burwell-Morgan Mill is one of the oldest, most original operational grist mills in the country. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the scenic grounds or venture across the road to the country store.
